How About an Elliptical Trainer
Thinking about starting a home gym? What should you buy first? If money is no object, then you’re in amuch better position than I am, you could model your home gym after ahealth club. You could buy atreadmill, elliptical trainer, weight machines, free weights and much much more. But if you’re like me you either do not have that much money or you just do not have the room.
I faced this situation 10 years ago. I was running and living in Florida. I did not always have time to run and in the summer it was just too hot to be out every day. I decided to get some sort of home exercise equipment to supplement my running. I had abudget and I decided I did not want to spend a large sum of money because I just did not know whether I would use the equipment that much. I did a lot of research and narrowed it down to two exercise choices, an elliptical trainer and atreadmill. Both gave me what aneeded, a good cardio workout. I felt that working cardio and my legs would keep me in shape for running.
I went to a sports store and tried them out. The treadmills were straight forward. You can walk and run on them. They provided several different workouts that would provide me with variety to keep me interested. The elliptical trainer was alittle awkward at first. I was not sure what kind of workout I was going to get with it. It did work my arms and you could vary that workout by how hard you pulled on the handles. I did some further research and found out the elliptical trainer provide a more all around workout by working the upper body and that there was no impact to your joints. This was important to me because I was worried about the pounding my knees were taking when running. I decided to buy one.
I bought a middle of the road version. The only thing I did not get was an automatic incline. I would recommend that feature for anyone considering any treadmill or elliptical trainer. It provides a much better workout. I got it home and got used to it quickly. I burned more calories than the treadmill and I could tell my arms and chest were getting a good workout. I continued to use it and my fitness level improved. My daughter got on it and loved it as well. She lost 15 lbs exercising with it. I would highly recommend this as a first all around home fitness decision for your home. Buy the one with the most features you can afford. But try them out first. You might not need things like an adjustable gate if your of average height. What ever you decide exercise is the way to go. You will feel and look better.
