After many years of working out in various ways such as weight lifting, running, jogging and bodyweight exercise, one common factor has finally become obvious to me. For good results, you must be consistent.

No matter what exercise you try, if you are not consistent, you won’t get the results you want and deserve. If you only exercise once in awhile and in a random manner, the best results won’t be attained.

Below are some important tips to help you get consistent, constant results.

  1. Keep an eye on your weight. Weigh yourself every morning at the same time and wearing the same amount of clothing. It’s a good idea to keep a record of the results you are getting.
  2. An even better way to keep track is to try on the same pair of pants each morning and you can tell if you’re losing fat because if you are, the pants will become looser on you. This is a great feeling when the jeans that used to be so tight they were uncomfortable, are impossible to keep on without a belt! This is an accurate method because sometimes when you first start working out, you may gain muscle and this will add some weight, but it’s good weight. That’s why this is an even better method than #1, but it’s best to use them together.
  3. Be consistent. If you really want to lose weight and see results, you will go to the gym when you promised yourself. Go and work out even if you are feeling that watching TV and eating junk food is the easier thing to do. You will thank yourself in the future when the results start happening.
  4. Get the help of a personal trainer to get started. Many gyms offer this service these days and this can be a big jump start for your progress. Having proper instruction in the basics is important.
  5. Get a training partner. This can be a key element in your weight loss and fitness goals. When one of you is slacking, the other one can shame you into going to the gym. Peer pressure can be a wonderful thing!
